Welcome to the new KIŠIB website!

We are pleased to welcome you to the official website of the KIŠIB – Digital Corpus of Ancient West Asian Seals and Sealings project!

Our goal is to make the rich world of Mesopotamian cylinder seals and seal impressions digitally accessible and analyzable. These seals are not only intricately crafted objects but also significant historical sources – they tell stories of administration, identity, and cultural interaction in ancient West Asia.

On this site, you will find detailed information about the project, our methodological approaches, visual resources, and research outcomes. KISHIB is an open, evolving research project that combines the latest developments in digital archaeology with the needs of Assyriology and related fields and will be for the next 16 years. Feel free to learn more about our partner institutions or dive into the world of digital cuneiform studies. We invite you to join us in discovering the digital world of Mesopotamian seals!
